Retaining your natural teeth is usually the best option, but there is an exception to this rule. Wisdom teeth can be a source of pain, dental problems and possible health issues for many people. Proactive removal of wisdom teeth is often recommended to prevent future issues. At The Dentist Centers, we offer wisdom teeth removal at our offices in Sandy Springs and Alpharetta.
Wisdom teeth generally arrive in the late teens or early twenties, right around the time a person becomes an adult. These last four molars are located at the end of the upper and lower arches, requiring significant space to erupt correctly. Wisdom teeth are large and can disrupt the positioning of other teeth if there is limited space in the mouth. They can also become impacted in the gums or grow the wrong direction, causing pain, teeth misalignment, infections and other problems. Even if they arrive without an issue, they are difficult to keep clean and prone to decay and other issues.
Proactive Wisdom Tooth Extractions
At The Dentist Centers, we offer proactive wisdom tooth extractions to prevent problems from these last molars. Our team will monitor the growth of these final molars in teens and young adults and recommend a good time to have them removed. Most of our young patients have all four of their wisdom teeth removed at one time to minimize recovery time and discomfort. We use sedation to put the patient into a deeply relaxed state while we perform the procedure. In a few days, the extraction sites heal, and normal activities can be resumed.
If you or your child needs wisdom teeth removed, contact our team at The Dentist Centers today. We can schedule an exam and discuss the procedure in detail to help you prepare for the treatment. Our office accepts most insurance plans, and we also have payment options if needed.
